The votes have been counted!!!

Hi to all chaintists,

Just to inform you all, every country has sent in their votes and all of the votes have been counted!

So, tomorrow my students and I can record the ECR-2012-newsflash in which we will announce the winner of this years’ competition!

This newsflash will be published on the blog at Monday January 30^th at 11:00 Brussels time, so everyone of you gets to know their position in the final ranking then. We will show you the European Chain Reaction 2012 then too, and it will be a real nice one, since you all were extremely creative this year! I hope all of you will be pleased with the outcome!

On Tuesday I will upload an overview in a votes-table, so all of you can see how many points you received from which countries. (I won’t publish this on Monday to hold the excitement. Now all of you are obliged to watch the newsflash if you want to know your place in the rankingJ!)

The European Chain Reaction 2012 from Bulgaria

Dear friends, "Cvetni Pesachinki” Kindergarten from Bulgaria is delighted to show you its first participation into The European Chain Reaction 2012.

Nine Bulgarian children aged 4-6 years have worked together as a team and fully unaided have created their first chain reaction with toys from the school. We hope you will enjoy their achievements and will like them. While the children were working on project European Chain Reaction 2012, they were amassing scientific experience, were really happy and were having great fun.

ECR12 Germany

Dear ECR team!

With last year's chain reaction we explored the length of our school on the first floor.

This year we decided to check out the other dimensions by starting from the upper garden, quickly entering and crossing the newly built extension and concluding our chain reaction ouside again on the lower premises close by our sheep.
15 pupils worked for 5 days on this chain reaction (during their holidays, that is!).

Unfortunately, we had to cope with a very difficult weather situation this week, so we were not able to shoot our chain reaction in one take due to heavy wind, rain and even some snow. For this reason, there are some obvious cuts in our video. Nonetheless, we hope you will enjoy our presentation.

Scotland's Chain Reaction

Hello everyone!

Yester Primary School from Scotland proudly present their own entry for the 2012 European Chain Reaction Contest!

Twenty five pupils from our primary 5/6 class (9 and 10 year olds) collaborated very well with each other and worked very hard, and entirely on their own, to create this entry, which we do hope you will enjoy!

Let's all remember that to create a chain reaction from nothing takes a lot of work, and we already think that the other chain reactions we have watched are all excellent, so good luck everyone, and well done for all your hard work!

The Belgian Chain Reaction

Hello all,

Belgium proudly presents it's technical chain reaction!

In Qworzó, the municipal elementary school in Merksplas, 35 youngsters aged 11-12 worked very hard to create this chain reaction!

We had a fun experiencing time and we learned a lot about thinking as a scientist, working together in small and large groups, ICT, ...

Of course we hope you will enjoy our chain reaction!

We look forward to watching the other chain reactions and want to wish you all as much joy as we had creating this modern artwork.

Project History

The European Chain Reaction 2011

The European Chain reaction is a European Quality Label winning eTwinning project that was first organised in 2011.

The project is a contest and a European collaboration between primary schools from as many as possible European countries.

In the contest primary schools compeet for the honour and a nice trophy: Which country builds and films the most astonishing and creative Rube Goldberg / Robert Storm Petersen chain reaction? The competing children are the only judges in this game!

In the end all videos will be edited to ONE BIG CROSS BORDER EUROPEAN CHAIN REACTION! (European Chain Reaction 2011 video)

In 2011 Germany was the outstanding winner of this fun science competition. They made this absolutely amazing video and they learned a lot about pulleys, chains, levers, ...

In 2012 we will have a second edition of the project. We would like to find some extra schools to participate!

Belgium

Czech Republic

ZÁKLADNÍ ŠKOLA A MATEŘSKÁ ŠKOLA MŠEC

We are proud to represent the Czech Republic in this competition. We are a small village basic school not far from the capital city Prague. There are 125 pupils in our school (6 – 15 years old) and 40 in the kindergarten (3 – 6). The primary classes are situated in a former castle (with an interesting history) which makes our school a little special (and romantic). All around the village you can find lots of hop gardens. Do you know what hop is for? You can check our school website with a lot of pictures.

Croatia

Hi from Zadar, an ancient, 3 thousand old Mediterrannean beauty on the Adriatic coast. The main part of Zadar is our peninsula that is surrounded by medieval walls. Apart from many churches, museums, galleries...there are two modern tourist attractions: 'Greetings to the sun' and 'Sea organs' (music is produced by the waves). Our Bartula kasica Primary school is situated in the suburbs of Zadar. There are about one thousand students (aged 7 to 4) who attend school in 2 shifts.They teach English as the first foreign language from the first grade, but can choose Italian or German in the grade 4. We are happy to offer our pupils the chance to meet their international pals through many eTwinning projects we take part in as much as by taking part in Comenius Project.

Greece

1st Primary school of Giannitsa is located at the settlement Karyoton in the city of Giannitsa- prefecture of Pella- Greece. Founded in 1915 , was completed in 1930. The current building was constructed in 1984. During the 2008-09 school year, enrolled 360 students, 25 teachers 17 sections as well and integration department for kids with special needs. Keeps computer lab room and lending library. The teacher of children with special needs, Abrazi Zoe have been running successful European projects like Comenius Socrates since 1998 and eTwinning since 2008

Iceland

Flataskóli is a compulsory elementary school. The pupils are from 6 to 12 years old (1st to 7th grade) In the school are nearly 300 pupils and about 50 members of staff, teachers and others employees. Flataskóli is located in Garðabær, a town of 10.000 inhabitants, 14 km south of Reykjavík. Flataskóli is the oldest educational establishment in Garðabær and the school is founded on trust and stability. Good behaviour together with a positive attitude and ethos are hallmarks of Flataskóli. The school has a speicial outdoor teaching area in a grove nearby in harmony with a stream and lava. The seashore is within walking distance from school.

Italy

“Antonio Gramsci” Primary School

Ghilarza ( Oristano) Sardinia (Italy)

Our School is located in Ghilarza , a town of 5000 inhabitants in the centre of Sardinia, close to an artificial lake, about 50 Km from the West coast of the island. In its surroundings there are lots of archaeological sites ( Nuragic and Roman architecture and civilisation). Sardinian people speak two languages: Sardo and Italian.

Our school has about 225 children aged 6/11 and 20 teachers.

In school year 2010/2011 we started our European adventure thanks to the presence of a Comenius Assistant and we won the European Label 2011!!.

For us is the first experience in eTwinning and the 5^th classes are looking forward to joining the European Chain ! Want to learn more about us? Visit our website!

Lithuania

ŠIAULIAI „JUVENTA“ SCHOOL
school doors opened in 1971 in its first generation and in 1999/2000 school year, pupils and teachers chose her a new name: „Juventa“ High School. Our school always was famous of it‘s music. Our school is famous not only for his musical achievements. Our students actively participate in various arts, sports contests and competitions. The school is decorated with ever-changing exhibition of works by students. Students participate in various projects: the Comenius, eTwinning, the city and the republic. Poland

Szkoła Podstawowa w Jaźwinie is a small village primary school in Lower Silesia Region. It is located 50 km from Wroclaw, near to German and the Czech Republic borders . It is a very small school with 13 teachers and about 80 pupils. We have a pre-school group and the youngest children are 4 years old. The oldest are 13 years old and they are pupils of year 6. Our native language is Polish but children learn English as a foreign language. Pupils are ready to build a chain reaction and eager to enter the competition. The tower you can see doesn't belong to school, it's a church tower.You can visit our school website!

Portugal

Colégio Monte Flor

Colegio Monte Flor is a private school that exists in Carnaxide since 1973. Targeted to the future, pedagogical innovation is assumed as the main feature of our teaching. Slovenia

Our school lies in Preska, a village not so far away from Slovenia's capital Ljubljana. It consists of two parts: the old and the new one. In the old part we have classrooms for art classes, history and craft, a dining room and a kitchen. We also have a very friendly chef, which will always make you laugh. In the new, bigger part, there are classrooms for Science (Chemistry and Physics), Math, Slovene, English, Music, Biology, Geography and a computer classroom. There are also two gyms and a library with over 14,000 books.

Primary school Preska is visited by students from villages Preska, Golo Brdo, Studenčice, Goričane, Sora and Dol. It also has two branch schools in Topol and Sora. There are about 400 students in our school at the very moment.

Spain

The CEIP "San Juan" was founded in 1973. It´s a public school with 240 students of preschool and primary education. It is placed in Antequera, a beautiful town 43 kilometres at the north of Málaga. Antequera is in the centre of Andalusia in the south of Spain. Our school is in the suburbs of the town, but we have a nice landscape to enjoy. Some students at school are from other countries. Now we are learning the informatics technologies and we are beginning to know others schools in Europe like in this project. You can visit ourwebsite here.
